A Few Guidelines to Capturing Corporate Tone of Voice (Part 3)

30 August 2012

Over the past few months, we’ve been questioned many times regarding what’s an appropriate answer for the ‘corporate tone’ ask as part of our project brief template. Given the frequency of the question, we thought others may find our long-form answer helpful. This is the third of a three-part series written by our resident copywriter Danielle, outlining our pointers for capturing your corporate tone. If you haven’t yet caught the first or second instalments, of course, link to those first.

7. Evolve

As your company grows and moves forward, so too should your brand identity. Whether it’s through expansion, a change in focus, or even new challenges, your corporate voice should reflect whatever’s happening behind the scenes. This helps to avoid any missed opportunities or crossed wires with potential clients.

8. Ask for direction

From communications gurus and PR wizards to integrated copywriting services, there are an abundance of avenues to explore if you’re lacking the time, know-how or creative juice to develop what you need. Your partners should work with you to identify your key characteristics, objectives and abilities. Make sure they get to know you and your business inside-out and don’t be afraid to disagree.

We hope these 8 tips have gone someway to explain the basic ways you can build a strong company profile and brand identity.

Our final word would be to consider the process somewhat like a dating profile: be welcoming and open to new opportunities, describe yourself in a way which makes you sound unique and interesting and stick to the truth as much as possible!

Happy writing.

We hope you’ve found our pointers to be insightful and helpful! Once you’ve established your corporate tone of voice and confirmed your internal marketing needs, we’d love to help your team to select the right marketing needs to express your corporate voice within a campaign or other effort. Please be in touch with your brief.
